Ōtaki Gorge Road repairs underway

Ōtaki Gorge Road will remain closed for the next 3 to 4 weeks due to the underslip that occurred last Sunday. The slip is located 50 metres from our completed Blue Bluff repairs.

Crews are busy with repairs which include constructing a new retaining wall.  As the weather wasn’t favourable this week work has progressed slower than anticipated. Currently the site is not safe for vehicle access, and the decision was made to keep it closed to vehicles over this coming weekend.

The road is accessible for walkers with a cautionary message to be mindful of heavy machinery and consider avoiding the area while repairs are underway.

The community will be kept up to date on the progress and weather permitting we can open this section for vehicle access over the coming weekends until work is complete.
