Ōtaki Transfer Station closed for general rubbish in November

28 Oct 2025

The Ōtaki Transfer Station on Riverbank Road will be undergoing upgrades and maintenance from Monday 3 November to 5pm Friday 28 November.

As a result, the large rubbish bay to the right of the entrance will be closed.

Kāpiti Coast District Council Property and Facilities Maintenance Manager Kelvin Irvine says the Ōtaki Transfer Station site needs some repairs and improvements to ensure it remains in a good and safe condition for customers and contractors.

“During this time, Ōtaki Transfer Station will only accept refuse bags. The green waste and recycling facilities will remain open,” says Mr Irvine.

“We encourage people to consider using our Otaihanga Transfer Station and Resource Recovery Centre for all other waste or, if possible, wait until the Ōtaki facility is fully operational in December.”
