Sewing machine
Paraparaumu Library now has a computerised sewing machine that you can book for your projects!
Overview
You must be 16+ and confident using a sewing machine. You will need to bring your own fabric and other materials. You can book the machine for 2 hours.
The library will supply the sewing machine and the following equipment:
- scissors
- tape measure
- seam ripper
- empty bobbins
- zigzag foot
- buttonhole foot
- overcasting foot
- monogramming foot
- blind stitch foot
- button fitting foot.
You may wish to get additional Brother 11.5mm bobbins from sewing supply stores.
You will be given a quick introduction to the machine the first time you use it, and operating guides will be available on the machine.
Want some guidance on our sewing machines? Join us for Make & Mend at Paraparaumu Library on Wednesdays, 10:30am-12pm. Our fantastic volunteers from the Waimea Women's Institute can help you with basic mending, alterations, and sewing, and share their best craft tips and tricks! These are informal drop-in sessions – no registrations required.
The sewing machines are also available at our Tech & Tools sessions at Paraparaumu Library on Fridays, 1:30-4:30pm.
