Local restoration groups

There are more than 20 restoration planting, friends and guardian groups throughout Kāpiti, that deliver environmental projects and work on protecting and preserving our local flora and fauna.

Volunteers are always welcome, regardless of experience or expertise. Activities include tree planting, track building, weeding, pest trapping, bird monitoring, and nursery work. Some volunteers have many years of experience, so getting involved is a great way to learn.

To inquire about taking part, simply fill out the form below. We will connect you directly with the groups you are interested in, or you can contact our Environment and Ecological Services team for more information.

"I've been involved for eight years now, and every time I walk past the very first tree I helped plant, I get a real kick out of it. It's a beautiful space now, and people enjoy it every day. I helped to create that."
