Cleanfill - must meet the cleanfill acceptance criteria published on the Council's website*. Note there is a minimum charge of $24.00 per tonne $24

Note: Asbestos is no longer accepted at the Otaihanga Landfill or the Ōtaki Transfer Station. If you require help disposing of asbestos, Worksafe provides a register of licenced asbestos removalists. The closest landfill accepting asbestos is Spicer Landfill in Porirua – find out about disposal requirements.

** The actual cost of recycling TVs and CRT monitors is around $45 per item. The Council currently subsidises this cost by $20 per unit using Waste Levy money.

*** Conditions of acceptance for tyres to be eligible for free disposal under the Tyrewise product stewardship scheme:

  • Clean and free of any debris and dirt inside and out
  • Tyres only, not attached to any rims or other non-tyre material
  • What tyres are covered: Tyrewise Scope One tyres: all pneumatic (air filled) and solid tyres for use on motorised vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, aircraft, trailers, and off-road vehicles.
  • Maximum of five tyres at a time to a registered/accredited Tyrewise public collection site.

Ōtaki Transfer Station Charges

Operated by EnviroNZ Ltd. They are responsible for the residual disposal of waste and set all gate charges for the site. Waste from this facility goes to the Midwest Disposals Bonny Glen landfill.
