Fuel your creative project — Creative Communities Scheme is open

30 Jun 2026

Applications for the 2026/27 Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) are now open, offering around $23,000 in funding to support local arts and cultural projects across the Kāpiti Coast.

Administered locally, the scheme is funded by Creative New Zealand and supports community participation in a wide range of art forms, including visual arts, music, theatre, dance, literature, Māori and Pacific arts, and multi-disciplinary projects.

Council community grants advisor Nerita Clark says the scheme plays an important role in nurturing creativity at a community level.

“The Creative Communities Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local artists and groups to bring their ideas to life and connect people through the arts,” says Ms Clark.

Funding of $2,000 per project is available, with a focus on initiatives that encourage participation, celebrate cultural diversity, or support young people to engage in the arts.

“We’re particularly excited to see projects that reflect the diversity of our communities and create opportunities for people of all ages to get involved,” Clark says.

Individuals and groups can apply, and projects funded in this round must take place between 8 September 2026 and 8 September 2027.

Applications close at 5pm, Monday 27 July 2026, with funding decisions expected in early September.

“Whether you’re an emerging artist, a creative collective, or a community group with a great idea, we encourage you to apply and be part of Kāpiti Coast’s vibrant arts scene,” says Ms Clark.
